WHAT:         Discussion of two Pulitzer Prize winning plays by the great

                       American playwright, Edward Albee:  A Delicate Balance and

                       Three Tall Women.  (Copies of these plays will be mailed to you

                       upon receipt of your registration.)

Come join us for our tenth annual Great Books Summer Drama Retreat on June 17th

 REGISTRATION:   The fee is $40, payable to the “Tampa Bay Great Books Council.”  Please fill out the registration form on the next page and send it, together with your registration check, to:  Patrick DeMarco, 9707 Sunnyoak Drive, Riverview, FL 33569.

 THERE WILL BE A CAP OF TWENTY-FIVE (25) PARTICIPANTS,  SO IT’S FIRST-COME, FIRST-SERVED!

 We will have two breakout discussion groups in the morning and afternoon.  During our discussions, we will be in the comfort of the Compton Park clubhouse, with indoor kitchen facilities, tables, and chairs.  After the first discussion ends at 12 noon, we will enjoy lunch and socializing until about 1:00.  Then we will reassemble for the second discussion which will end at about 3:00. There will be a final summary session from 3:00 to 3:30.

 THIS WILL BE A POTLUCK LUNCH SO PLEASE BRING A COVERED DISH (a main course, salad, or dessert) TO SHARE WITH OTHERS.  Coffee, soft drinks, and paper supplies will be provided by the Tampa Bay Great Books Council.  There is a stream outside with picnic tables nearby, so if the weather is pleasant enough, you may choose to dine al fresco!

Ballad of the Sad Cafe (movie poster)All Drama Retreat registrants receive a complimentary invitation to “Martinis and a Movie,” a special Preview Event to be held from 1:00 to 3:00 PM on Thursday, June 16th (the day prior to the Drama Retreat).  We’ll gather to watch and discuss “The Ballad of the Sad Café” based on the play by Edward Albee and the book by Carson McCullers, and starring Vanessa Redgrave, Keith Carradine, and Rod Steiger.  This free presentation at UCC/Tampa is available only to those registered for the Drama Retreat.
